I booked a hammam/steam room, massage, and facial at the Matilda hotel. This experience was quite possibly the least relaxing 1.5 hrs of my life. During the massage, the amount of oil that was used had my entire body drenched. As the 1 hr massage time felt like it was nearing its end, i assumed there would be a transition before the facial portion began. To my chagrin, more massage oil was lathered all throughout my hair and face for the next 30 minutes. Looking back, i dont know why i didnt say something. When this disastrous experience was over and after showering multiple times to remove the oil, i went to go check out. The manager only acknowledged and apologized for the facial mistake after i called it out before paying. I rarely ever treat myself to relaxing experiences like this while traveling so I will now be more adament about verifying the spa treatments. I hope your experience is much better as i assume i was the unlucky outlier
You don't need me to tell you this hotel is FABULOUS. You don't have to stay here to experience it. Book spa services - so good! Then have a fancy lunch at Moxi's patio!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Matilda. Everyone was helpful and friendly especially Gustavo at the front desk. The food was excellent and the hotel was beautiful. They had covid precautions in place and we felt safe. We would recommend Hotel Matilda to anyone and would stay here again.
