HIGHLIGHTS, TIPS and NOTES:
Did you know Astoria, a city on Oregon's Columbia River (just a few miles from the Pacific Ocean), is the oldest American settlement west of the Rockies?  This quaint city is home to many fine cafes, shops and restaurants, but it most acclaimed for its maritime history, including the Columbia River Maritime Museum, featuring everything from dugout canoes to sailing ships to a WWII warship.

The Cannery Pier Hotel & Spa was built on the site of the former Union Fish Cannery, 600 feet into the Columbia River. In addition to its well appointed guest rooms, full service day spa, sauna and fitness room, the hotel offers guests fantastic views of a real working river, plus views of Cape Disappointment Lighthouse and nearby Washington, and a Museum Walk to learn more about the Cannery Capital of the World.

Spa and Fitness

The Spa at the Cannery Pier Hotel offers guests use of the hotel exercise room and hot tub overlooking the River, as well as use of the authentic Finnish sauna, complimentary with your stay or spa treatment.  Treatments include massage, body wraps and scrubs, skin care, and packages for singles and couples.

Popular Features

Guest rooms include balcony river views, gas fireplaces, personal wet bars, WiFi, and more.  Borrow a bicycle from the hotel to tour the city during your stay, and then visit the spa and Finnish Sauna.  Each night, guests are served wine and smoked salmon on Finnish rye bread in the lobby.  Heading out to dinner or the theater?  Get a chauffeured ride in a vintage Limousine.

Disappointed

I had stayed at this hotel several times in the past. It's a beautiful hotel & originally was such superb service that it was a favorite destination. So, after many years I decided to take a break from daily grind & enjoy a pampered stay in Astoria. The front desk service was excellent & helpful. Unfortunately it seems the hotel was sold to a corporation as you might expect, those special little perks have gone. I found that I could not just walk down to the Sauna to relax. That is now part of the "spa" and they require you to make a reservation - just to sit a bit in a sauna! Also they are closed Tues & Weds.... you used to be able to walk in to the hot tub & sauna at will. Very disappointed.

"While we always hope to provide all of our visitors with exceptional hospitality, we take special pride in caring for our regular guests and we're deeply disappointed to learn that your recent experience fell short of what you've come to expect from us. We are proud to be under the wings of Vesta Hospitality, which is owned and operated by a team based out in Vancouver, Washington. We remain committed to excellence in the large and small details that have always set us apart from other lodging options in the area. Our sauna, hot tub, and workout room are open every day from 7:00 am until 10:00 pm. Our spa is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday so we can offer luxurious, pampering spa services to our valued guests. To provide the highest level of safety and proper distancing, we do use a reservation system for our hot tub and our team would be happy to explain the details. We understand that it's the special, thoughtful touches that set us apart from the rest and our team will be reviewing your feedback, as we are always looking for ways to improve the guest experience. We hope you allow us another chance to restore your faith in us." -- Cannery Pier Hotel

Having an amazing stay! Janet did my facial in the spa and she gave me everything I wanted and more! I didn't know I could have so much fun getting a facial. Thank you Janet. Kathryn and Michael at the front desk were very helpful with my needs and the while experience over all has been great and I've only been here for 5 hours! This is where you wanna stay.

New Ownership Woes

I am a local who was gifted some certificates to use in the Cannery Pier Spa. I had used one of three prior to the new owners taking possession. I was disappointed when I presented these today only to find out they no longer employed the great massage therapists who used to work there. I was offered to exchange them for a room that could be used for one night during the week. I don't have much use for a local hotel room as I live only a few blocks from the hotel and am only interested in the spa. The front desk staff were very friendly and tried to help. I asked if the certificates could be cashed out, but was told they could not offer cash on a purchase that was made with the prior owner to the tune of only $160 dollars.

"Thank you for sharing your experience, Ivan. While the staff you are used to isn't here, we have many skilled, talented massage therapists who would be pleased to welcome you to our beautiful spa and delight you with their relaxing treatments. We hope to set up an appointment for you soon and honor your spa certificates!" -- Cannery Pier Hotel
