Hot Honey Tea Cold Remedy

This warm, sweet, savory and spicy tea is a perfect toddy for your common cold.  Mike’s Hot Honey is a delicious condiment for your favorite hot and sweet foods, but here it actually helps with cold symptoms.  Lemon juice and cayenne or chili peppers help cut through congestion, ginger reduces the inflammation from a cough and sore throat, and the honey soothes the throat.

A cup of hot lemon tea with lemon, ginger, honey and chili peppers will help you decongest, soothe, and feel better.

Ingredients

  • 1 piece fresh ginger root - about 1 inch
  • 1 teabag lemon herbal tea - caffeine free
  • 1 tablespoon Mike's Hot Honey
  • 1 slice lemon - fresh

Instructions

  • Boil a small piece of fresh ginger root in 1 cup of water for 5-10 minutes. Strain liquid into a mug. Discard ginger.
  • Add a lemon bag to the water, and steep lemon tea.
  • Add Mike's Hot Honey, stir to dissolve. Squeeze a piece of lemon into tea, add lemon slice to tea.
  • Stir and drink immediately.
