Squalane Skin Snack Yum Yum
Face Food by
Body Moose 1
fl oz, $9.99
"Squalane Skin Snack
is an odorless, greaseless, fast absorbing oil that will leave your skin
looking dewy and moisturized without a hint of unnatural feel. For people
with oily skin, it's a godsend... you can have the benefit of moisture where
you need it without creating an oil slick. For dry skin, sensitive skin, or
troubled skin, it's particularly worky and because your skin creates this oil
naturally, it's 100% safe and non-irritating. Use it before your cosmetics
for a flawless, smooth application. Use it under lip balm, it's safe to eat!
It's the pure, simple
goodness your face has been begging for. Feedback on this product is
universally positive! People are staggered when they see how quickly
squalane absorbs and how good they look.
Some companies using
squalane: Clinique, Estee Lauder, Lancome, Paula's Choice,
Prescriptives, Revlon, NARS, Murad, Peter Thomas Roth, DermaDoctor, DDF,
Elizabeth Arden, Osmotics, Remede ... one of those companies has a
product with "oil free" in the name and squalane high on the ingredients
list: squalane oil is that light!" |

When we first learned of
Squalane Skin Snack from Body Moose, and then had the opportunity
to try it for two weeks, we wrote the founder of Body Moose, Dwala Wishon,
and said "We must have been under a rock for years. How could we not know
about this oil?"
Dwala assures us that we are
not alone in just learning of this wonderful ingredient, long
in use by the skincare industry. We're told it's usually one costly component in an
even costlier product, and it has only been recently that retail providers,
such as
Body Moose, have been able to make the phyto (plant-based) version of this
ingredient available as a pure and natural 100% vegan skincare oil, at
affordable prices.
Squalene vs. Squalane
Squalene (spelled with an "e") is an oil extracted from the liver of
deep-water sharks. It helps increase immunity, prevent chronic illnesses,
fight cancer and aging and helps strengthen the skin.
Squalene works by releasing oxygen
into the cells of the body, helping to prevent cell deterioration.
Squalane has long
been used in cosmetic preparations to soften skin, reduce fine lines and
wrinkles, and as a bactericidal agent which speeds wound healing.
Squalane (spelled with
an "a") has, essentially, the SAME chemical components, however, in vegan
form, as extracted from olives. It is frequently (and
incorrectly) referred to as squalene, when in fact, it has no shark liver oil
components.
Body Moose quotes
extensive background information from reputable resources on its helpful information
page, including that olive oil
squalane is less expensive to produce (no harvesting of deep water sharks is
required, obviously), more stable against oxidation, of a higher food grade,
purer and more compatible with skin than shark-derived squalene.
Squalane has a natural
relationship with the skin, as it is one of the primary components of the
human sebum, a natural lubricant secreted by the skin. Therapeutic
squalane gels are used by plastic surgeons to treat the skin of post-laser
and post-surgical patients. In 1906, Dr. Tsujimoto of Japan discovered
the shark liver extract, which was later identified as squalene, with a
chemical formula C30H50.
Oxygenating Effect: The
active ingredient (C30H50) is a high-quality unsaturated hydrocarbon which
studies seem to indicate is capable of re-supplying the cells with much
needed oxygen. This increased oxygen produces a more efficient metabolic
process enhancing energy metabolism at the cellular level. Another
source of squalene is olive oil, which has been traditionally known for
its health effects. This related compound -- squalane -- is
used in skin care products and is more stable against oxidation.
Detoxification Factor: Natural, pure Squalene functions in our body as
part of the detoxifying system and may help to protect us against foreign
substances which can weaken or cause damage to our natural defense systems.
Anti-Oxidant: Because Squalene is easily absorbed it penetrates the
cell membranes and plays a versatile role as an antioxidant in the cells of
the body's organs.
A Natural Product: The richest source of Squalene
is found in the livers of our Aizame (dogfish) shark; but there are also
minute amounts in olive oil, rice bran and other healthy foods.

"Sebum provides the normal
lubricant of ... skin. It keeps the skin supple and forms a protective
bacterial and fungicidal coating on the skin and in the pilosebaceous
apparatus. This fatty cover helps to keep moisture on the skin surface.
Squalene occurs naturally in the human sebum."
"The cosmetologist has found
in squalane a natural emollient. It imparts to the skin a suppleness
without an unpleasant greasy feel. It does not oxidize nor turn rancid.
Squalane has also been found to accelerate dye-dispersion in lipsticks,
producing a high gloss and acting as a long lasting fixative for perfumes.
When applied to washed or sun exposed skin and hair, squalane helps to
restore the lost oils. It has long been known that coating the skin with
oils offers considerable protection from sunburn because of a strong
absorption band in the erythemogenic region."

Practical Uses of Squalene and Squalane, "COSMETICS AND THE SKIN", by

So what did Body Moose Skin Snack (Yum Yum Face
Food) do for us, in a practical
sense?
Body Moose Skin Snack, called "Yum Yum Face Food"
is the most gentle, effective, and surprisingly adaptable facial moisturizers
we've ever used. We tested it on our entire staff -- a variety of complexions
-- over a
two-week period, with universally excellent results.
-
Rosacea: "Skin Snack did not irritate, aggravate, or
cause of flare-up of my rosacea. It gently soothed my very sensitive
complexion and made it feel dewy and plump. I used it twice per day
with excellent results. I was able to skip my usual moisturizer
completely. Skin Snack felt 'safe' to me, whereas I view all other
moisturizers with a trepidation, as they usually trigger a flare up almost
immediately. Not so, with this product. I'm sold."
-
Acneic: "Skin Snack controlled my oily T zone to
perfection. It seemed to reduce the redness of my chin breakouts
within days, and I saw no new breakouts. The remainder of my face
felt moist without being oily. It was odd -- adding an oil to my oily
areas actually balanced my skin -- which is pretty remarkable."
-
Dry and Mature: "Glides on like a dream. Only
required a few drops under my eyes, spread out over my delicate skin.
Absorbed instantly and fully, and left no residue. I felt as if I had
new baby skin."
-
Wound: "I dabbed this over my curling iron burn,
several times, and it helped moisturize and sooth the burned skin to the
point I stopped fussing with it during the day, permitting it to finally heal."
-
Lips: "I spread this over my lips as suggested
by Body Moose, after
washing my face and moisturizing. It was just enough to get rid of
that dry skin that I chew on. Made for a plump, moist lip and a nice
base for my lipstick. I mixed a drop in with my lip gloss pot, I
liked it so much. There was no taste."
-
Value: "I used this oil on my face, my elbows, my
lips, and my cuticles. Rather than considering it too expensive to do so at
$9.99 an ounce, I considered all the products that DON'T work nearly so
well. Skin Snack, which needs only a few drops per application, is a
bargain."
Other sites sell squalane for
as much as $65.00 per ounce. One site, by example, sells squalane at a cost
of $22, plus shipping, for one-half of an ounce. Body Moose, at
$9.99 for a 1 oz bottle of PURE SQUALANE, backed by excellent customer
service, a guarantee of satisfaction, and free shipping (for a limited time), is an excellent choice
for trying this wonderful resource from nature.

Customer service is a priority,
as shown by a motto adopted by Body Moose, above, the appropriate
packaging, and the charming and whimsical presentation of its products.
