Like a warm apple crisp, but it takes only five minutes to prepare, making this recipe an easy pre-bed treat.
Equipment
1 skillet

1ouncewalnuts- toasted and chopped
1mediumapple - sliced or chopped
½teaspooncinnamon- ground
2-3tablespoonswater
1pinchsalt
1teaspoonmaple syrup- preferably pure
2tablespoonsGreek yogurt- plain, unsweetened
Instructions
Place apples in the pan, sprinkle with cinnamon and salt, and toss to combine.
Add water to cover the bottom of the skillet. Bring to a simmer over medium high heat, then lower the heat and cook until apples are soft and mixture thickens.
Stir together maple syrup and yogurt until well combined.
Transfer apples to a serving dish, top with maple-yogurt and toasted walnuts then drizzle with any liquid from the pan.
Warm apples provide carbohydrates and Greek yogurt adds protein to stimulate tryptophan while walnuts contain sleep-inducing melatonin. In the summertime, feel free to substitute peaches, blueberries, or cherries to enjoy the flavors of the season. The nutritional stats are approximate and for our test, we used plain, unsweetened non-fat Greek Yogurt.
