Environmental Stewardship
Mohonk Mountain House is the perfect place for rest,
renewal, and relaxation of body, mind, and
spirit. In Mohonk’s continuing commitment to be
“the same, only better,” the Spa's three-level
design features wood, local stone and cedar
shingles to complement the Mountain House’s
existing architectural character. Architects
designed the new wing with energy
efficiency in mind, allowing Mohonk to provide
wonderful new services for guests while
treading lightly on our spectacular natural
environment. The building is
environmentally friendly in its use of a
geothermal heating and cooling system, as well
as recycled and recyclable materials.
A “green” sod roof is used
on one section of the building, creating
natural insulation and blending into the
surroundings. Environmental considerations were key elements in designing the
treatment menu for the spa.
Signature treatments
highlight botanicals abundant on
the mountaintop.
The pool building features windowed
walls and lofty wooden beams (similar to those
in the Skating Pavilion), allowing guests to
feel connected to the natural beauty of Mohonk.
Throughout the Spa at Mohonk Mountain House,
you will find all the special touches that let
you know you have “come home again to Mohonk”—
beautiful natural wood, a stone fireplace, and,
as always, a staff of expert practitioners
dedicated to making your spa experience
extraordinary.
