HIGHLIGHTS, TIPS and NOTES:
"May be the best all-around spa the perfect place to rest, relax and get in shape everyone seems to wish they could go back again and again - and many do." - Zagat Survey

Rancho La Puerta, founded by Edmond and Deborah Szekely, is the original destination fitness resort and spa — family-founded, owned and operated since the 1940s.  Today’s guests enjoy the very best resort spa experience, shaped by expertise developed over 65 years. Each week, some 150 guests share 3,000 acres of mountains and meadows beneath 3,885’ Mount Kuchumaa. The peak straddles the U.S.-Mexico border, and Native Americans consider its slopes and summit a sacred place — so much so that it was the first geographic feature in the U.S. to be named a National Historic Site by the Department of Interior based on spiritual significance.

Rancho La Puerta provides space — that which is most lacking in today’s life. Space to breathe freely. To relax. To renew, reflect and redirect one’s longer-living life.

Eco-Friendly Retreat

Most of the facilities and lodgings are sprinkled amidst world-class gardens. Probably the world’s first “eco” resort, the Ranch practices sustainable organic gardening and resource conservation, and leads the way in environmental protection and education efforts in the region.   Within walking distance, our organic farm, Rancho Tres Estrellas, grows the healthy fare we dine on daily.

Rates

Rancho La Puerta has always been a great value…and remains so today.  All facilities and land are for the exclusive use of guests who come for the week, arriving on a Saturday and departing on the next, ensuring the delights of a warm and welcoming community.  Rates are per person and include lodging and round-trip transportation from the San Diego International Airport on Saturdays (our standard arrival and departure day for one-week stays). Rates also include an extraordinary array every day of all meals and snacks, fitness classes and programs, guided walks and hikes, educational classes, lectures and seminars, evening entertainment, use of all facilities, and more. You may add à la carte spa services (i.e. massages and facials), healing therapies (i.e. cranial-sacral and acupuncture), private fitness sessions (if so desired) and hands-on cooking classes and/or culinary demonstrations.  No service changes.

Location

A one-hour drive from San Diego, barely across the border in Tecate, Baja California, Rancho La Puerta’s perfect, dry (never humid) climate, balanced between sea and desert at an altitude of 1,750 feet in a cooler mountain zone, makes it an ideal location for year-round fitness activities, relaxation, and the recharging of everyone who wishes to live longer in the vigor and joy of good health.

Earthy, organic chill spa. Loose make-your-own schedule, great food, activities, hikes, massages, etc. Beautiful.

Rancho la Puerta is amazing! The food is healthy, there are fitness classes from easy to medium, and there are lectures and performances too. Be sure to book a massage. Covid-19 protocols are followed; masks are required inside public buildings. Everything is as fantastic as ever.

An amazing, relaxing, renewing experience. The ranch staff is wonderful, the food is exceptional and classes and hikes are so much fun. Spa treatments are excellent.
