Heron Island Resort Great Barrier Reef – Queensland

Heron Island is an exclusive island for guests (no day-trippers allowed here!) and, with television-free rooms and no mobile phone reception, it’s ideally positioned to take you back to nature, and to what really matters: Time.  Time with loved ones, and time with the Earth.   The nature itself is absolutely spectacular. The island is situated on the Great Barrier Reef, which means you can snorkel right off the island. Scuba divers come back again and again to fully discover the 20 dive sites that are just minutes off the island.

The Lodging

Rooms at Heron Island range from the Turtle Room, set in the Pisona Forest, to the secluded Point Suites, ideal for sunsets, and the most popular Beach House, a freestanding house with exclusive access to the beach, all yours for the duration of your stay on Heron Island.    All rooms and suites boast either a balcony or a terrace to help you soak up the atmosphere. Inside, you have tea and coffee making facilities to help make yourself at home.

The Spa

Drawing inspiration from Heron Island’s dramatic Great Barrier Reef location, the Aqua Soul Spa is influenced by the rich and diverse beauty of the sea. Aqua Soul Spa has been created to enhance your health and well-being by embracing the powerful healing qualities of the sea and earth.  The spa’s range of treatments are inspired by nature, and use LI’TYA products — a high performance range of natural Australian spa care products that integrate the potent qualities of the Australian earth and spirit.

Guides and planners are available to guests wanting to experience the natural surroundings of the Great Barrier Reef.  Complimentary activities for all guests include nature walks, swimming pool snorkeling lessons, nature slide show presentations, trivia game night, birdlife and ecology walks.

More adventurous guests make take part in a variety of add-on activities such as semi-submarine tours, diving tours, charter fishing, sunset cruises, the Junior Rangers program, and kayaking.

The Meals Inclusive package includes breakfast, one course lunch and a choice of two courses for dinner at Shearwater Restaurant.  The Bed & Breakfast package includes breakfast only. UNESCO World Heritage Site

Heron Island Resort is located on the shores of the Australia’s Great Barrier Reef.  A World Heritage Site is a destination or place deemed a “special cultural or physical significance” as established by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).   “The Great Barrier Reef is a site of remarkable variety and beauty on the north-east coast of Australia. It contains the world’s largest collection of coral reefs, with 400 types of coral, 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of mollusc. … The Reef is of superlative natural beauty above and below the water, and provides some of the most spectacular scenery on earth.” — UNESCO
