Caldea Thermal Baths, Andorra

Caldea Thermal Spa Andorra

Listed in Andorra, EUROPE, France, Spain

Water is one of the natural resources of the Principality of Andorra, a country with much to offer in terms of enjoying its mountains, rivers, lakes, and streams. At Escaldes-Engordany (one of the Principality’s 7 administrative divisions) the presence of natural thermal water springs led to the birth of spa hotels  wishing to make use of this natural bounty; and the establishment of Caldea in 1994.

The water bubbling up from the 35 springs in this region is considered among the hottest in the Pyrenees (700C).  All Caldea’s aquatic activities depend on this naturally hot water, rich in minerals, sodium and sulphur, with the characteristic oily feel due to thermal  plankton. Its properties have analgesic, healing, decongestant and antiallergic  effects.

The services and treatments offered by Caldea are very different from thermalism or thalassotherapy. The former uses the properties of thermal water for scientifically proven therapeutic purposes, while the latter uses sea water and sea breezes for the same purpose.

By contrast, Caldea prioritizes leisure aspects and has created a new way of enjoying thermal water: thermal leisure, a unique concept offering the discovery of the pleasures and benefits of natural thermal water through fun and wellness.  Guests to Caldera enjoy the Aztec bath with currents, surrounded by a tropical garden, the grapefruit bath, in a Japanese garden, which exfoliates and softens the skin, the Hammam to enjoy the purifying action of steam, the relaxing bath in a Zen atmosphere, the outdoor Jacuzzis and the private solarium, the water beds, the real pleasure of relaxation and escape, and the aquatic bar and its Gaudí-inspired terrace.   Relaxation is essential in order to enjoy the benefits of Caldea after bathing and fitness sessions, and infrared services and sunbathing is encouraged.

Very nice place for the lovers of water!  Large swimming pool, Jacuzzi pools, nice views outside. Has a swimming pool with glass bottom that you can see the nearby flowing river, next to the Spa complex. I recommend it!

One of our favorite stops on our honeymoon. We went at night and splurged on the adults-only tickets and I'm so glad we did. Having the large pool and outside section of the pool with no kids, the lights low, and the spa music playing was lovely and very relaxing. So glad we visited!

A lot of people were present. We spent 40 minutes waiting in line just to enter. Pools are good, good area under the sky, very organized areas for children! To get more satisfaction you should use more services like massage or choose smaller spa areas for adults, but we were not there these dates. Then we visited it in dinner time and it was super! Especially Jacuzzi in the fresh air! It’s perfect when it’s not overcrowded!
