BEST HOTEL SPA

Fairmont Pittsburgh
510 Market Street, Pittsburgh

The Fairmont Pittsburgh overlooks PNC Park, with views of the restored downtown and the Pittsburgh city skyline. Guests of the hotel and visitors to the spa are in the center of everything best about the city.   The third-floor 6,000 square foot Spa and Health Club were renovated in 2013 to include spa treatment rooms and manicure pedicure stations, and the result is a beautiful escape in the city, welcoming day guests and hotel guests alike.  Services include fitness, skin care, massage, manicures, pedicures, steam and sauna rooms, and spa party events.

My monthly membership gives me a clean, bright and inviting place of refuge in the city.  After a work out I can enjoy the steam and sauna, or relax with a beverage in the lounge.   It includes a facial or massage every month, so no reason to ignore my skin care. If I book additional services, I receive a discount.  I was invited to book the manicure pedicure area for my bridal party and I most certainly will.

BEST DAY SPA

OSIRIS Wellness & Day Spa
1511 Mars Evans City Road, Evans City

OSIRIS Wellness  & Day Spa is located in a spacious 8,000-square-foot facility situated on six wooded acres in Evans City, a short drive from Pittsburgh.

At OSIRIS, guests enjoy a full service hair, body, skin and nail spa, in addition to a bevy of amenities making for a perfect Spa Day.

Before and after services, guests are invited to enjoy relaxing on the grounds or make use of the many amenities, including resting by a  15,000 gallon koi pond or in the meditation room, taking in a radiant heat sauna or whirlpool tub, steam suite, and enjoying complimentary beverages and healthy snacks in a fully stocked and welcoming kitchen for you to browse.

My guest and I enjoyed a massage, sauna, steam and snacks and beverages in a chaise lounge for several hours without being disturbed, but because the amenity areas are compact and designed for only 1-2 guests, we recommend you book ahead and reserve as many services are your budget allows, or, book one of the spas day packages.  Then you will have what essentially amounts to a “private spa retreat” for the day.

BEST DAY SPA - MANI PEDI

Casa Dolce Spa
511 Beaver Street, Suite 201, Sewickley

The village of Sewickley, just 11 miles NW of downtown Pittsburgh, is home to Casa Dolce Spa. Casa Dolce was nominated by many readers as offering among the best manicures and pedicures in the outlying area.

This was my best mani of the year.  Well worth the drive from downtown Pittsburgh. I’ve had gel manicures several times and they are rather horrid on my  nails, which tend to be thin and easily damaged.   Casa Dolce’s nail technician needed to soak off my existing polish before giving me a fresh manicure. I explained my trepidation about nail damage and she told me not to worry, she’d take special care. This is the first gel polish removal that didn’t damage my nails, and her expert care in applying the new manicure left me very happy indeed.  She also recommended the spa’s Vinylux polish which hardens with exposure to natural light and doesn’t require the soak off method, for those in-between gel manicure periods.

BEST DAY SPA - SKINCARE

Judit European Day Spa
2013 East Carson Street, Pittsburgh

Our readers voted Judit European Day Spa on the South Side as one their favorite Skincare Spas in Pittsburgh. Judit European Day Spa is a full service day spa offering organic skin care (Éminence Organic Skin Care), massage, waxing, manicures and pedicures, body scrubs and wraps, and spa day packages.

I received my best facial this year, with my favorite skincare line.  This esthetician’s rates were more affordable than other locations offering this wonderful line and I received top notch customer service, as well. I was totally relaxed and at home at this day spa despite being a first time guest on an obviously heavily booked day.

Services at PCCHH include a vast array of massage modalities, as well as reflexology and  Reiki, body wraps and exfoliating scrubs, hand and foot treatments (including paraffin dips and foot soaks), traditional Chinese acupuncture, Sacred Stone Facial Treatments, and more.   Holistic wellness classes are offered in a dedicated space, as well as private and group Yoga instruction.

While no hair care or traditional aesthetic services are offered, my partner reviewer and I agreed we simply felt better physically after our visit here, with treatments from Angie and Rebecca, than any other place.

SPECIAL MENTION DAY SPA - YOUTH AND TEENS

ESSpa Kozmetika
17 Brilliant Avenue, Aspinwall

ESSpa is located in a historic building in Aspinwall, a bedroom community on the Allegheny River in Allegheny County in the Pittsburgh Metro Area.  The owners remodeled a 90 year-old mechanic’s garage to resemble a European Village.  A diverse service menu includes manicures and pedicures, massage, body wraps and scrubs, hair removal, cosmetic services including lash enhancements, traditional Hungarian skincare and facials, but highest marks were received for the dedicated menu for the benefit of youth and teenagers.

Look for the kid and teen specific menu to introduce your family to age-appropriate ‘first facial’ and ‘first massage’ services and ‘teen-centric’ skincare for teenagers needing to develop good skincare when it matters most.  These services are terrific and my daughter enjoyed the labyrinth layout and painted village decor.
