BEST HOTEL SPA
The Spa at Four Seasons
200 International Drive, Baltimore 410-223-1444
The Spa at the Four Seasons Baltimore ranked as our Best Baltimore Spa based on reader polls and visits by our Secret Spa Reviewers. The spa offers private treatment rooms, specialty suites with soaking tubs, and a VIP suite. Your spa service includes a steam, sauna, shower and relaxation circuit, and the spa also offers complimentary spa and wellness classes for guests and the public.
If you can, set aside your entire morning or afternoon for this spa. Here’s why: Before your service, visit the Tea Lounge and sink into plush furnishings while sipping herbal teas or other beverages. Head over to the mosaic-clad Aroma Steam Room and breathe in steam infused with aromatherapy oils designed to relax and prepare you for treatment. Or, relieve achy muscles in the Rock Sauna, with its dry and intense heat. Brace yourself with a plunge in the Ice Fountain between heat treatments — travel back and forth between heat and cold as you desire, and finally, step into the Lifestyle Shower with its Body Jets, Tropical Rain and Arctic Mist. This is all before your treatment even begins. You can refresh in one of the spa’s waterfront relaxation rooms, or, enjoy access to the hotel’s rooftop infinity pool. Claim your chaise lounge, enjoy the pool, soak up the view and snooze. When it’s time to drag yourself home — not to worry. The spa provided you with complimentary valet parking. That’s a perfect day.Secret Spa Reviewer
BEST SKIN CARE
The Medi Spa at Mercy
345 St. Paul Place, Baltimore 410-332-9540
The Medi-Spa at Mercy is located in the lobby of The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Center at Mercy. The spa offers a variety of medical skin care products and services and works closely with the physicians of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Mercy to customize skin care for each patient. The spa also provides complimentary wellness services, including oncology massage, prenatal massage and rejuvenation massage, acupuncture, hair removal, and more. The spa’s director and primary esthetician is Donna Chang, RN, BSN, has been practicing skin care for more than 20 years.
Donna provided me with my best facial this year, after a consultation concerning a pesky skin condition I’ve suffered with for years. She told me the particular cosmetics I’ve been using may be irritating my condition and causing flare ups and discussed stress reducing techniques which help calm my skin. While I enjoyed 6 facials in 18 months from several different spas, I’ve most appreciated Donna’s skin care. I followed her recommendations very closely and have never looked or felt better.Secret Spa Reviewer
BEST SPECIALIZED SPA
31 South Calvert Street, Baltimore 410-685-7428
Owner Craig Martin launched The QG in 2005 as a four chair grooming shop. It has evolved into one of Baltimore’s most unique Salons and Spas. Mr. Martin’s salon has a distinctly Executive Man vibe, but professional men and women are both welcome. The spa and salon offers barber and styling services, skin care, waxing, massage, manicures and pedicures, and express services for all executives on the go. The full service stop includes tailoring as well as access to a relaxation den dubbed “The Office” with a wet bar, smoking room, poker and billiards, digital entertainment, and humidified lockers.
I’m not a manicure man. I generally stick with a regular massage and a sporadic facial when I’ve sunburned my face. On impulse I added an express Handshake Service and this 15 minute manicure really tidied up my hands and give my handshake its best look for my afternoon presentation. Girlfriend noticed, too.Secret Spa Reviewer
BEST MASSAGE SPA
The Healing Path Massage & Wellness Center
1202 S. Charles Street, Baltimore 410-637-3760
The Healing Path Massage & Wellness Center has three locations, including Federal Hill, Fell’s Point, and Timonium. The center specializes in massage, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, nutrition and more. Our Secret Spa Reviewers both visited the Federal Hill location on Charles Street and booked a massage with Monica Griggs. The massage received highest marks from both of our reviewers.
Monica was able to work out a particularly painful spot near my rotator cuff which I’ve had for years following surgery and candidly, I tell most therapists to just avoid it, but I was chatting and relaxed and before I knew it, Monica was able to address this issue and I was pain free within a day.Secret Spa Reviewer
