Spa Index staff was asked to try Royal Thai Bath and if we liked it, recommend it to our readers. We tried it, we liked it -- we recommend it. Based on the photographs of what appeared to be a glass mason vacuum jar full of dried flowers, and a description of a milk bath with flowers, we expected a dried milky bath powder with petals. What we received was something far more unique.
The vacuum jar makes a lovely presentation to start. Sealed in pure gold leaf on the top, with a cylinder of perfectly preserved flowers, we thought at first the lid was white. Not so. The lid is a reservoir of liquid milk bath, full of essential oils and aromatics.
The chamber holds whole orchids or rose petals so perfectly preserved, in pristine condition, that one would think they are imitation. They are not imitation at all -- they look as if they were picked only hours ago, and are ready to be hydrated in the milk bath.
The
rose petals were beautiful, but the orchids were beyond
description. Imagine a handful of freshly picked
orchids, vibrant and ready for dropping onto a bath, and
you'll have an idea. Even the delicate stem on these
beauties were intact. Our shipment arrived in a box from
Thailand, yet, every flower in every jar was perfectly
preserved (see photo at left, taken in our office).
A warm bath was drawn, the dried orchids gently sprinkled on top of the water, where they quickly re-hydrated. The milky bath potion and essential oils soothed and softened our skin; the flowers added a note of serene luxury that was both elegant to look at and gave us just a minute or two in a foreign locale. No bubbles needed, here.
Royal Thai Bath is priced at $30 for a large jar which will provide enough for two baths. Wholesale prices are available for spas wishing to offer this unique form of hydrotherapy to guests. We will recommend this product to both our readers, and our spa members. In fact, we encourage you to enter our Mother's Day 2006 contest, in progress now for an opportunity to win a complimentary Royal Thai Bath for yourself.
