Chameleon Day Spa, Green Bay, WI
In November 2004, I researched Chameleon Spa on-line and reviewed services and prices on their website. They advertised a whirlpool spa pedicure for $45. I made appointments for 6 people -- a treat for me and my girlfriends. When we made the appointment we were told the facility had moved, and that their new facility had a fireplace where we could relax while awaiting our pedicures. We were also told, and as their website advertised, that they had a gourmet coffee bar we could enjoy. When we arrived, we experienced several disappointments:  The actual price was $55 -- higher than the website's posted price.  The manager's response to our complaint was that they reserved the right to adjust prices, and the website was being revised (although it didn't say so). The pedicures felt rushed, and none lasted the promised length of time. There was no fire in the fireplace because the building was not even finished with construction and "finish work" and it clearly wasn't ready for business: There were floorboards/trim missing, there was no mirror or paper towels in the bathroom, there were counters and sinks missing, and, it was overly warm because they didn't yet know how to adjust the heat.  Finally, they no longer had the gourmet coffee bar -- it was at the place.  They planned to set up a table with coffee "eventually" so we asked -- why did they even mention it?   While we were seen on time, it was a disorganized and overpriced experience, we did not feel pampered, or even welcome really, and management was dismissive of us and not responsive to our concerns -- even for a party of six. Editor's Note:  We were concerned about Kari's "bait and switch" experience so we contacted and left messages for the spa owner.  The spa facility did not respond to our email or telephone calls.  In the six months following this review, the website for this facility continued to describe a now-removed gourmet coffee bar, and listed a $45 whirlpool spa pedicure price.  The address on the website continued to reference the old location, but the recorded telephone greeting for the facility listed its newer, different location. This spa's website is both an advertisement for and a promise of certain goods and services, and it is critical to keep it maintained. -- SpaIndex.com April 2005
