Birdwing Spa, Litchfield,
MN I was fortunate enough to spend 5 days at the Birdwing Spa in August.
It was incredible. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The
grounds of the spa were very well kept. Everything was perfect.
If I didn't feel like working out, that was o.k. The hammock was always
available. There was absolutely no pressure to do anything. The food
was delicious!!! I never would have guessed that we were only getting
1000 calories a day. All the staff were well trained and knew their
stuff. Aerobics were quite a work-out, but were a lot of fun.
And the work-outs changed everyday, too. Not the same old boring stuff
everyday. I am definitely saving up to go again for another week.
It was well worth it. The rooms are comfortable. I stayed in the
big house, not in the barn suites. There's a huge whirlpool downstairs,
a nice outside pool. Lots of paths for walking and biking. They
provide everything you need. Just bring your clothes. I can't
say enough good things about the place. It's about 50 miles west of
the Twin Cities and I had no concern for safety while biking or hiking.
AAAAA+++++ -- Diane D., Dec. 2002

LifeSpa, Minneapolis MN. LifeSpa was a much needed amenity in the downtown area. The soothing
atmosphere is apparent upon stepping into the Spa. There is light music
playing and the smells relax you immediately. I have gotten facials and
the deep tissue massages there on a number of occasions and the personnel
there are always highly professional and do a great job. The prices are
little higher than what I would usually pay, but because of the convenient
downtown location, it is easily accessible during a normal workday. They
never rush you and they do make you feel as though you are their most
important client. I even forgot a coupon once for a discount and they just
gave me the discount no questions asked. I have never had a bad experience
there. -- Sonya S.

Elizabeth Arden Red Door
Salon & Spa, Minneapolis, MN My experience with this day spa was lacking to say the least. With the Elizabeth
Arden name, I expected something a cut above. Instead, when I went into
the spa changing room to change into the bathrobe and slippers provided, there
was a half empty (and obviously used) glass of water on the chair, several
used robes, and a couple of pairs of used slippers on the floor.
After placing my personal
items in the locker provided, I headed to the waiting room. I was quickly
taken back to a private room for my facial. While the person performing the
facial was very pleasant, the room was quite small -- the end of the table
was literally against the wall. I am rather tall (5'11""), however, I have
never been to another day spa where my feet were crammed into the corner of
the room. The facial was pleasant, but, the lack of space necessitated holding
my feet in a uncomfortable position. My next treatment was a Body
Polish with Vichy Shower. The website indicated that the body polish was $50
and, if you added the Vichy Shower, $75 total. Instead, I was charged $50
for the body polish and $50 for the Vichy Shower. When I questioned the higher
price, I was told by the person checking me out that she didn't know anything
about the internet special. Checkout was its own adventure.
There were three people behind the counter but only one of them was working
a register (although there were two registers). The two other people behind
the counter were busy in private conversation. So, I had to wait behind four
other people buying products. Was it a terrible experience?
No. Was it the standard of service/comfort I would expect from Elizabeth Arden?
No. Would I return? Unlikely. -- Kelli H. |
