New Resort and
Spa at Pala Casino Takes Shape
First Casino
between Los Angeles and San Diego to Feature Full-Service Spa
SAN DIEGO – With less than 90 days until its grand opening on August 19th, the
expansion of Pala Casino is moving at breakneck speed. Pala Casino, which
currently has 2,000 slot and video machines and 50 table games, will become Pala
Casino Resort and Spa, a 650,00- square foot, $215 million hotel, casino,
entertainment and dining complex.
Pala will be the first casino between Los Angeles and San
Diego to feature a 10,000 square-foot full-service spa and salon, which will
include a state-of-the-art fitness center, 14 treatment rooms including two
couples spa suites, complete salon and a boutique. Special features of the spa
will include private outdoor rain showers, power showers (Swiss showers) and
indoor/outdoor treatment facilities, eucalyptus steam rooms, sauna and
whirlpool. The resort will also feature an Olympic size pool with 12 private
poolside cabanas and two side-by-side Jacuzzis with dual temperature control.
The 10-story hotel tower will feature 507 rooms, of which 82
will be suites. Each room will offer a mini bar, safe, and high-speed Internet
access, along with luxurious bathrooms featuring custom tile work. All suites
feature oversized Jacuzzi bathtubs.
The expansion adds two restaurants to the property, Mama’s
Cucina Italiana where fresh pasta will be made in a display kitchen and the
Poolside Café and Bar for alfresco dining. The Grand Cabaret, a 1,000-seat
entertainment venue will open on June 14 with a special appearance by Jay Leno
for a members-only private party. The 2,000-seat outdoor concert venue called
the Palomar Starlight Theater and a garden wedding area will open in August. In
addition, the expansion adds 30,000square feet of fully equipped meeting and
convention space.
Pala was the first Southern California casino to offer all
the elements of real Las Vegas-style gaming and the first to be built from the
ground-up and opened by executives at the highest levels of gaming operations.
Pala is the only casino to bring the outdoors inside with floor to ceiling
windows throughout the facility. Pala, which is open seven days a week, 24 hours
a day, currently offers 2,000 slot and video machines, 50 table games (with 25
more being added as part of the expansion), a unique non-smoking gaming area, a
high-limit gaming and lounge area, six restaurants and Promenade Lounge for live
entertainment. A 21,000-square-foot Pala Events Center offers live
entertainment, sporting events and more. Pala is located in northern San Diego
