AUSTIN, TX…Casual hill country elegance unites with modern luxury in the new 25,000-square-foot spa at Lake Austin Spa Resort.  Designed to integrate the peaceful charm of this renowned resort with the finest amenities of a modern destination spa, the new facility will be seven times larger when completed than the current Healing Waters Spa.  Opening in March of 2004, the new spa is destined to be one of the most unique in America and the retreat of choice for visitors seeking a world class spa vacation.

Blending with the existing Hill Country vernacular architecture of the resort, the new buildings are constructed of Texas limestone, cedar and stucco, with metal roofs.  They sprawl gracefully across the property’s natural lakefront landscape.  The new treatment area includes a 22,000-square-foot building with large screened porches, outdoor men’s and women’s courtyards and a luxury outdoor treatment suite.  The Pool Barn houses a 25-yard climate controlled covered lap pool for year-round swimming and water classes. The backdrop is sparkling Lake Austin and grounds beautifully xeriscaped with native plantings and granite gravel paths.  An outdoor pool and extensive water features set the mood for the stunning gardens that frame the buildings’ entrance.

With this expansion, Lake Austin Spa Resort can provide a vast array of custom services for deserving guests.  The facility includes twenty-one treatment rooms with in-room showers, and nine outdoor treatment rooms including screened porches, garden tents and poolside cabanas.  A tandem, or couple’s treatment room features a Hydrotherapy tub with color therapy and a Vichy shower.

A new salon offers guests with priceless finishing touches, without which no spa experience is complete.  The salon provides complete hair and nail care by frequent guest stylists, as well as private makeup application.

An added feature of the new spa are private men’s and women’s locker rooms, complete with individual lockers, bathrooms and showers, lounge areas and fully stocked vanities.  Each has its own sauna, steam room, whirlpool and an outdoor stone-walled courtyard with fountains, outdoor showers and private treatment tents.  The ladies locker room courtyard presents an intimate setting for private parties or small groups.

Guests can enjoy the breathtaking view of Lake Austin in the Great Room, where a screened porch is perfect for relaxing prior to and after treatments.  Other unique features of the new spa facility include: outdoor treatment tents; an outdoor suite featuring a private whirlpool, fireplace and shower; an acupuncture/chiropractic treatment area, and a covered screened porch with two treatment areas.  Plans also call for a spa café with al fresco dining.  Upon request, a private meeting room with AV capabilities and a private garden are available.  There are also separate parking and entrances for day and overnight guests.  Unlike many other spas, Lake Austin Spa Resort remains open daily until 11pm for the convenience of local guests.

Recently, the resort has been honored as one of the Top 25 Luxury Resorts by Departures Magazine and as a Top Five U.S. Spa by the readers of the 2003 Zagat Survey.  For more information, please contact Darlene Fiske, Director of Sales and Marketing at 512-372-7374, or Pam Blanton at 512-469-0702.  Lake Austin Spa Resort is located at 1705 South Quinlan Park Road, Austin, TX 78732.  Call 512-372-7360 or toll free 800-847-5637 for reservations and information, or visit our website at www.lakeaustin.com.
