2012 Dear Spa Owner and Spa Marketing Analysts Thank you for your interest in joining or listing a spa facility on SpaIndex.com: Guide to Day Spas and Stay Spas, the chief website of the Spa Index Media Network, a collection of Dot Calm Resources™.
Here are a few facts about our organization: SpaIndex.com: Guide to Day Spas and Stay Spas was founded in 1998 and has existed online continuously since 1999. We were the first mainstream spa directory to coin and use the term "Stay Spa" to collectively describe Inns, Hotels, Resorts, Lodges, and Retreats
which offer accommodations and spa services, but, did not meet the definition of a "Destination Spa" as then defined by the spa industry. The term "Stay Spa" is now in the public domain, copied and used by many travel agents, spa guides, spa lifestyle magazines, and gift certificate sellers.
Our guide is exactly that -- an interactive guide. We value quality listings over quantity listings because as any reputable spa owner knows, adding the term "day spa" to the end of a business name does not a day spa make. We list our spa members by type (day vs. stay), by location, and by niche or
special interest. We do not aim to act as a travel agent by booking and arranging spa travel in exchange for both a
listing fee and a booking commission. We do not aim to sell branded gift certificates to our readers in exchange for a commission (and pretty substantial administrative housekeeping by our spa members). Instead, we guide our readers to a variety of different types of spa opportunities, whether by a geographic
region of interest, or by spas within a special niche of interest (perhaps a smoking cessation spa, a weight loss retreat, a dude ranch, or an African American Owned Day Spa for our readers seeking our ethnic skincare specialists), or, to those spa destinations offering seasonal promotions. We accomplish this in a number of ways: spa guide listings, seasonal promotions, newsletters,
coupons, third party advertisements (at our expense) and
social media (Twitter and our blogs). We also assist our readers in developing or maintaining a healthy "spa lifestyle" by bringing home the spa environment whenever realistically possible. This includes sharing healthy recipes for spa cuisine (we
are the top rated search engine result for spa cuisine, among many other terms), spa at home tips and recipes, lifestyle tips from our spa members, contests, and more. Our commitment to furthering and enhancing the spa lifestyle for everyone includes taking care of the spa providers, as well. We want our members' spa facilities to be successful
-- so we promote your brand more zealously than we promote our own. In that regard, for our members, we offer competitively priced spa listings, and handsome policies, including:
Low cost start fees
Competitively priced annual listings
Very limited outsider advertising means our readers are not forced to deal with annoying banners
We collect no booking fees
We collect no commissions
We sell no gift certificates. That market is well covered, and, you have your own to sell, don't you?
We do not hide your address or telephone number to force our readers to contact us, instead of you.
We maintain your listing, text and your graphics. Spa Owners are busy enough as it is. We don't collect a fee for advertising, and then, force our members to manage the advertisement themselves.
We maintain a free Job Board to post your career opportunities.
We maintain a website of resources specifically of use to spa and wellness professionals.
We maintain a blog of news feeds specifically of interest to spa and wellness professionals.
We network on Twitter with spa enthusiasts, providers, tourism boards, press agents, public relations firms, writers, and journalists
Following this simple, reader and spa-owner friendly strategy, in less than 10 years we grew to the comprehensive network we are now proud to operate. A snapshot of our network includes:
