Monthly Snapshot Surveys provide ISPA members with a valuable look into the state of the spa industry, spa industry trends and also help to identify the needs of spa professionals. Snapshot Surveys are conducted on the third Friday of each month, with full results provided only to respondents two
weeks from the release date of the survey. Knowledge is a valuable tool and these quick surveys provide a wealth of information shared by ISPA’s members.
For the Third Quarter Snapshot Survey, Respondents were asked to identify any trends that were visible during the first quarter of 2010 that related to consumer spending. Below are excerpted responses from the final results:
Less retail purchases and people are using more special discounts or promotions Utilization of promotional discounts for retail Utilization of promotional discounts for treatments Clients waiting to hear about discount before booking Guests booked multiple treatments when they were offered a percentage off for the additional treatments, or to return within 30 days. We saw more response to percentage off promotions than we did to money value / credit or complimentary upgrade/product promotions. Utilization of promotional discounts has been the driver to our resort and spa Everyone is looking for a deal, discount or freebie Promotional discounts are key More members ready to spend but looking for a discount or promotions. Promotional discounts are up Clients are looking for discounts/value Guests continue to shop and look for deep discounts and loyalty awards and freebies
